"We have based our recommendations on candidates' records and public campaigns.
In Seat 3 we recommend incumbent John Howe
Howe knows city government inside
and out and seems to have the respect of city employees. He has worked hard to
increase public participation in government, even walking precincts in non-election years
We recommend him."

LEADERSHIP BRINGS RESULTS
MANY THANKS TO ALL
FOR YOUR SUPPORT - John Howe
Dear Neighbor:
As Mayor and City Councilmember, I have rolled up
my sleeves
and worked hard to protect and build Sunnyvale and make it one of
the safest and most desirable places to live anywhere in the world.
I've responded to drug and gang activity in
Sunnyvale by
re-establishing the narcotics and organized crime unit. As a result,
our city is a safer place for all of us.
In a tempestuous political climate, I helped
to hire a qualified City
Manager who had an extensive budget and operations background to
turn around the city's finances.
To insure that the residents' needs and desires
are addressed, I have
contributed to the communication infrastructure of the city in many ways.
For example, I have promoted and attended many neighborhood
meetings, so that I am well informed about the needs of our community.
I have also established an Auto Dealer Roundtable and established a
Hospitality Business Roundtable.
I appreciate your consideration of my candidacy.
Please don't hesitate to
call me if you have any questions or suggestions. I look forward to working
with you to make Sunnyvale an even better place to live.
Best,
John Howe

MY TOP PRIORITIES IF ELECTED:
Maintain a low crime environment by
strengthening the collaboration between the
community and Public Safety in order to provide safe
neighborhoods, streets,
parks, and schools.
Protect the quality of life in our neighborhood by creating
a more inclusive
community with support for high quality education and
public health.
Develop community programs modeled after the Farmers Market,
the Summer
Music Series, the Art and Wine Festival, the teen Fish Bowl
and the Fremont Pool.
As a City Council member, I helped to establish and maintain
these existing programs.
Encourage a healthy economy by supporting high technology,
commercial and
retail businesses.
Promote efficient and safe transportation systems.
As a Planning Commissioner,
I was instrumental in Transportation Demand Management Programs.
It is my hope that you share my commitment and vision for
a better Sunnyvale.
Join me in realizing these goals by casting your vote
for me on November 8, 2005.
