As Mayor, held an Auto Dealer Round
table, which led to improved
competitiveness for local businesses
with Sunnyvale Auto Row.
Held hotel/motel Hospitality Round Table
meeting to address concerns
of local businesses.
Worked for business retention and the
creation of new jobs by meeting
and visiting with many members of
the business community and discussing
ways to improve city coordination.
REDUCING SPENDING TO
BALANCE CITY FINANCES
Decreased the City's budget shortfall
from over $14 million in 200203 to
less than $1.7 million in 200506.
Helped hire an experienced City
Manager with an extensive budget
and operations background to
turn the City's finances around.
Enhanced Sunnyvale's history of
good financial planning by
setting clear priorities with
the most comprehensive public
input process in the city's history.

As Mayor, identified the funding to
reestablish the Sunnyvale
narcotics and organized crime
task force that had been previously
eliminated by the budget cuts in
20022003.
The reestablishment of this task
force has resulted in a
decrease in violent crime.
SUPPORTING STRONG
NEIGHBORHOODS
Increased community meetings
in every neighborhood
throughout Sunnyvale to ensure
the city can respond to local needs.
Ensured that Sunnyvale City
Government is open to
all residents.
Increased local neighborhood
associations by 33% in
the last two years, providing
greater representation of
neighborhood priorities.
